Hello Dr. Cucuzzella,
I am very excited. You are the only MD that I am aware of that knows about Chirunning. I would like to begin running again. However, at 27 I drove my femur through my left socket. Had a plate and screws put in. Was told if I ran again I would wear down my joint prematurely and have to have too many hip replacements. Now at 45 I have had a replacement of my left hip(March 18, 2008)with the plate and screws still in place. I am interested in running the Chi way. Do you think this is something a person with a hip replacement could do safely? My Doctor said that I could run some if I felt it was an absolute a necessity and no races or Marathons. I figured just long enough of a run to reach thirty mins. of cardio every other day. Gradually begin and eventually my miles will increase for the same amount of time. So eventually three times a week and probably no more than 5 miles at each run, thus 15 miles a week at the most. I don't expect to sprint fast like I loved when I was younger. I just want to get in touch with that marvelous feeling I used to achieve. Do you have any comments about this?

Great advice! I've always believed that proper preparation starting 2 days before the marathon is as important as the race day. Also drafting and hills are an important part of the marathon and can really help out in the end.
